I acquired Kyber

Tatsu 🤝 Kyber
I have a pretty exciting announcement today. A first for me.
I have acquired another Slack application, Kyber and I will be replacing the current standup functionality in Tatsu with that from Kyber. This means your current standup experience will be enhanced a bit, starting next month.
A bit of background
Kyber is more than “just standups”. It provides a task management system, polls for your team, meetings, and scheduled messages.
This acquisition of Kyber gets Tatsu closer to it’s final vision and provides the additional elements necessary to fulfill my vision to kill more meetings.
Kyber is not new to me. I have worked on Kyber since 2018 and I have built a majority of it’s current functionality. I am familiar with the software, the infrastructure, the customers, and the support. My goal for this transition to the new version of Tatsu should be painless for current Tatsu customers.
A note to current customers
The current version of the Kyber Slack app will be renamed to Tatsu and your current Tatsu standups will be moved over and ready for you when you arrive.
Since this is a different application on Slack, you will be required to install the new Tatsu application to your workspace. I hope to make this process as easy as clicking a button.
Exciting plans ahead
I have been hard at work at improving the existing version of Kyber as well as getting it ready for it’s new home.
First up, a new command just dropped in Kyber. Anytime you want to provide any feedback to me, simply stay inside Slack and type /kyber feedback
. You can ask for help, send a bug report, request features, or just give us a thumbs-up. This will be moved over to Tatsu when we move.
Next up, Task Numbers. I have found it difficult to reference tasks when chatting about tasks in Kyber. Task numbers will be assigned to each task for easy reference and searching. Task numbers are already in early beta and if you would like to participate and help shape this feature or provide feedback, simply send feedback in Slack and I will get you in.
One last thing. Outside Tasks are coming to Tatsu! I am already working on the ability to work with tasks outside of Tatsu/Kyber outside of the native tasks. Want to bring in issues from GitHub right into Tatsu? Do you want to mark that Basecamp task complete right where you are inside Slack? This will help you view the whole picture for all your projects.
I am very excited about next month and into the first quarter of next year as we continue to integrate Kyber and move Tatsu closer to it’s full vision.
Until next time. 🌎✌️
